Citations and Toll Pass FAQs

How do you know that I generated this citation or toll?

This notice was sent based upon information provided to the rental car company, as the registered owner of the vehicle, from a municipality or toll road authority. The information – based on the date, time and vehicle – indicates that you were the renter.  If this information is incorrect, please contact the rental car company through their Appeal Form.

Can you send me the actual citation or toll notice?

The letter the rental car company sent you includes details about the date and time as well as the location of the incident.  However, since they typically receive only electronic notifications – which reduces processing expenses and time delays – paper copies of tickets or citations are not available.

Why am I getting multiple bills for the same rental period?

Today, the rental car company billing system notifies you about each individual toll or citation. However, they are working to make improvements that will eventually combine multiple bills onto one notice letter.

Why am I being charged now after my rental period has ended?

The rental car company depends on government and toll agencies for all information related to tolls and other citations.  In most cases, that takes one to four weeks – although, in some circumstances, it may take even longer.  Their goal is to notify you so that you are alerted as soon as possible. Under the terms and conditions in your rental agreement, you are responsible for all costs, fines, citations and tolls – as well as an administrative fee they charge for processing and billing.

I had my personal transponder in my vehicle, so why am I being billed?

Why am I being billed for both the Toll Pass Service and the tolls?

The rental car company's Toll Pass Service enables customers to drive without worrying about unexpected tolls or having exact change at the time of passing through a toll gate. The daily Toll Pass Service fee does not include the actual toll charges.

Why have I received a letter directly from local authorities about a citation or toll?

In some locations, the rental car companies work with local authorities to transfer liability for citations and tolls to the responsible rental customer. When this occurs, customers pay for their citations or tolls directly to the local authorities.  However, the rental car company standard administrative fee still applies for having processed the transaction.

Why are you charging me an administrative fee?

The administrative fee is the rental company's charge for processing and billing for unpaid citations and tolls.

How can I pay my toll or citation?

If you paid for your car rental with a credit card or debit card, they can directly charge that card. If this is your preference, there is no need to do anything else. If you prefer to use another card, please immediately call 1-800-935-0112.

However, if you paid for your car rental with cash – and prefer to pay your toll or citation by credit card – please immediately call 1-800-935-0112.  If you paid for your car rental with cash – and prefer to pay your toll or citation by check – please mail your payment and citation number (as indicated in your letter) to the following address:
